Day 1 – Dreamforce 2024

Day one is done, and here in Finland replays has been running all day, before day two begins soon.
So the big thing this year is called Agentforce, which is Salesforce AI tool. Salesforce boldly states: “What AI was meant to be.”.

There was a lot to unpack and for the most benefit and deep dive, I highly recommend to log into Salesforce+ to take a look at the recordings once they become available, but some picks will follow here with thoughts on it.

Agentforce (AF), formerly known as Einstein CoPilot, seems like a very useful tool and shows great potential and implementation use cases. The demos that was shown promised very much, but one thing that actually made me smile was the promise, or prediction in AF compared to OpenAI on Azure. I’m sure that something like the shown data on the slides can be achieved, IF you have a perfect Salesforce Org. and impeccable data, but how many companies actually does have that?

Now don’t get me wrong, Salesforce (SF) does do many implementations easy to do in many cases. There is documentation and guidance available. But either there’s something I misunderstood, or there’s an army of persons doing the project, I don’t believe it’s that realistic to achieve results like that. 🙂

The thought brought up front, that AF and human working side by side, is in my mind the future, and is the one that pleases me most. The alarmists who’s been vocal about “AI taking all jobs” etc., hasn’t been realistic, or that is what I’ve thought. And how SF showed the possibilities was great.

A very real and concrete examples were the one in the Slack keynote. Here I could see very real potential for where I work. The Slack apps Service for Slack and Sales for Slack among others has shown true potential. But the app field has been too split up and confusing in my mind. Now with the the new integration or fusing of the two software’s is starting to be what has been expected and anticipated. Slack call int Salesforce Channels.

Instead of pulling or pushing data between Slack and Salesforce manually, they will communicate automatically, and you can truly perform different tasks within Slack, from or to SF. THIS will be a huge assist in many cases. And the upcoming feature of Slack Templates show very high potential.

But there are some open questions on this SF and Slack integration. For an example, will this work if you are in an Slack Enterprise Grid model, and then there is going to be several totally separate Salesforce Orgs? Meaning, can there be 1 (Slack) to many Orgs (SF) combinations. Will this work from the get-go with all SF Objects, standard and custom? How much custom Flows is there going to be needed in SF to get everything to work?
They showed in the demo how one can create an opportunity in an Account in SF. This can be done from within Slack with just one link. Will this be some standard function that does this? Or will it need a custom flow to get it up and running?

In addition to all the talk about AF, one main pick of headline was like so often Data Cloud. So what is Data Cloud? I think I’ll just paste here SF’s own explanation, as it does a very good job.

“Data Cloud is a data platform that unifies all of your company’s data on to Salesforce’s Salesforce Platform, giving every team a 360-degree view of the customer to drive automation and analytics, personalize engagement, and power trusted AI.”

This needs to be investigated at my current employer, as I see that it could bring benefits.

But as an great day 1 is behind, the anticipation for day two has been started. Hope it will be as good as day one.
