Follow-up to “Screen going BIG”

A little less then two years ago I posted the last time, and back then the post was about me getting a curved wide screen. So as to hopefully get some life back to the blog, I decided to write a short follow up.

After using the screen now on a daily level, I conclude that this was one of the best IT devices I’ve ever bought. Still love the screen real estate, having the possibility to have the main window straight in front of me, with two supporting windows on the sides.
What comes to the issue of having to choose the correct window to share during meetings, that has through experience vanished. Now it’s totally normal to choose what to share, and switching between is no issue at all.

One thing that that has risen, is the screen saver. As my Macbook Pro, gives impulses that it awakes, although it doesn’t. This meaning I can’t just walk away from the desk, and expect the screen to turn off and stay off until I really give the “command” to awake. It starts at some point to get the mac signal of being on, so it shows the standard source window in the top-left corner, only to then notice that nothing is to be displayed, and then show the “turning off” 5 second countdown.

This keeps on looping back and forth, so that if I sit on the couch, I can see the brightness increase, the small windows show on the black background, only to then disappear again. This has forced me to truly turn off the screen from the power button, not to have it loop back and fourth.

This however is not an issue, just a thing one needs to learn, to really turn the screen off.

When I now and then go to the office to work, I very clearly notice that there, I have in use “only” 2 27″ screens, and it get’s me to appreciate my big screen at home. IF there were to come some technical issues with my screen at home, I would replace my current screen very quickly with a new with the same dimensions and type, I can’t see myself go back to twin screens, unless the primary screen is a curved wide. 😆
